If you love the idea of obstacle and adventure racing but are not so keen to drive hours away just to trudge 20km through mud with thousands of strangers, come get your weekend warrior on in your own backyard and with a bunch of awesome locals instead!
With our all-new AGOGA Intrepid Racing Series, you’ll kayak, paddle board, climb, run, cycle, crawl, cross-train and perhaps even skate your way to adventure racing glory – all in glorious Bondi and its surrounding suburbs.
For each race, there will be prizes to be won, new skills to conquer and friends to laugh your post-race aches away with.
Our very first event kicks off… Saturday, 20th July! This one is for girls only (boys welcome as cheer squad volunteers) but round two will be a mixed event, so stay tuned men of Bondi. And if you’re a femme fatale… read on and sign up!
AGOGA Intrepid Event: “GIRL CHASE”
When
Sat 20th July 2013 at 1pm (meet between 12:30-12:45pm)
Where
Oz Paddle, Vickery Avenue (off New South Head Road, near Lyne Park) at Rose Bay
Tickets
$59
Prizes
Be one of the first to cross the finish line and you’ll take home an awesome prize! Up for grabs is a gorgeous bikini from Bondi Bather, body shimmer products from Red Carpet Kolour, vouchers for Crane Bar & Restaurant, plus treats from Megaburn.
The Race
Girl Chase has four sections, involving kayaking, a mini obstacle course and some trail running. Estimated time to complete the full course is 1hr to 1.5hrs (‘elite’ clients should aim for sub-60).
Here’s what you’ll be doing…
- Kayak from Oz Paddle at Rose Bay to Milk Beach (1.5km)
- Complete mini obstacle course at Milk Beach
- Run on a marked trail from Milk Beach to Nelson’s Park and back (2km in total)
- Kayak from Milk Beach to the finish line at Oz Paddle in Rose Bay (1.5km)
Kayaking Round 1
Each participant will pick up their kayak, paddle and vest from Oz Paddle, then when the gun sounds will kayak along the coastline to Milk Beach. Although the route is safe, each participant must be able to swim.
Obstacle course – “The Beach Party”
Pump It Up!
Jump out of your kayak and pump out 100 squats as fast as you can, holding your paddle above your head (overhead squat). Reps only count when your paddle is held high – a hard task when your arms are tired from paddling!
Sacked In
get into a potato sack and jump your way across the beach (50m)
Flip Out
Flip a car tyre back to the other side of the beach (50m)
Carry On
Pick up a sand bag and run all the way up to the Strickland House, tap the wall and run back, before gratefully dumping your bag back where you found it.
Rave
50 chest to floor burpees, the best finisher on the planet!
You must complete all obstacles before taking off for your run to Nelson’s Park. The obstacles are preferably completed in the correct order but if there are too many participants at the same time, complete whatever is free first. We don’t want you waiting around getting cold!
Trail Run
Run on a marked trail to Nelson’s Park, check in with Vee, then run back to Milk Beach.
Kayaking Round 2
Kayak back to Rose Bay, run up through the ‘finish line’ and (if you’re fast enough), claim your prize!
Post-Race “Hang”
For those keen to extend the post-race ‘high’, we’ll regroup back in Bondi for a cheeky drink and a race re-cap!

Hello, I am very interested (it is a fantastic idea) in AGOGA’s Intrepid Event: “GIRL CHASE” and you have stated that this is the first event of this series. I was just wondering if there were any plans to hold these events on Sundays or will they always be held on Saturdays? I look foward to hearing from you. Cheers
