Admit it Agogians; we know at some point you’ve dreamed of being on the Amazing Race, running around cities uncovering clues, tackling crazy challenges, and fighting to secure that winning podium position. Fortunately for you, AGOGA and BUF Girls have joined forces this November to bring you the greatest charity adventure…
Looking after your health requires more than maintaining the physical body; we also need to ensure we’re looking after our mental health. Regardless of gender, age, cultural or socio-economic background, anyone may be affected by poor mental health at some stage in their life. When it comes to men, many find it difficult to share their difficult experiences with others, and adhere to misguided and outdated notions of masculinity by simply ‘manning up’ or sweeping their struggles under the carpet.
The Movember Foundation points out that 1 in 2 Australian men have had a mental health problem at some point in their life, and 1 in 8 men will experience depression in their lifetime. Starting a conversation is often the best first step to seeking support and guidance. To kick start our own conversation, AGOGA is thrilled to welcome Mike Campbell, Man Coach and author of Amazon #1 best seller Unleash Your Alpha, whose mission is to challenge the current model of masculinity to help men get more out of life.
Sydney’s fun-run season is in full swing and this week we’ve got AGOGA’s running guru, Vee, guiding you through your running with some of her best training, nutrition and hydration advice! Although we’ll focus on getting you ready for the City2Surf and the Blackmores Running Festival, you can definitely use this advice for any running events or personal goals. Over to you Vee.
AGOGA sessions always include functional training which covers the practice of correct movement patterns applicable in various activities with the aim of developing our clients’ smooth movement with good dynamic stability and posture (not to forget improvements in conditioning, strength, mobility, body awareness and athleticism). This functional training necessitates practising integrated and multi-planar movements with correct engagement of the core and alignment of the spine.

I’ll start with what I hope is an uncontentious statement; appropriate exercise is good for you! Agree? Good. But sometimes it’s easy to fall into the habit trap of exercising for exercising’s sake. Whether you’re stepping into AGOGA, having a run down at Bondi, or cranking out some bodyweight training in your hotel room while travelling (just to name a few examples), what if your exercise wasn’t just “exercise”? What if your exercise became training for specific goals? Now you’re moving with intention.
It’s January and that means working out and eating better is front of mind for most people. If you’re an Agogian, your workouts are sorted already, so now it’s time to get your food on track!
OK so the sun is out, the weather’s sweet, holidays are on the horizon and all you can think is BEACH TIME!! But you also know you need to workout. The solution? Hit the sand with my ultimate simple (but smashing) DIY sand session!
OK so, I’m going to get right to the point. Our sister business Bottoms Up! Fitness (aka the “BUF Girls”) is co-hosting an amazing live fitness event in Bondi on November 14th that’s going to help you (or your single mates) score a date. But we need your help to make it a success.
I have an enemy. This enemy is also one of my best friends, so it can be a tricky relationship. You could say it’s a mix of love and hate, a relationship both helpful and destructive, affirming and negating. Our bond makes me both smarter and dumber, and sometimes I feel deeply connected but often totally tuned out.
By the time Christmas and New Year’s Eve are finally over, most people feel like they need to make a shift in their health. Typically, the word, “detox” gets bandied around a bit, health pros start getting asked the usual, “how can I shift a few kilos quickly” line and you spend your lunch hour surfing the internet for the hottest new gyms and latest get-fit-quick workouts. Right?
