Frequently Asked Questions
Yes, active recovery and stretch classes are excellent for improving movement, reducing soreness, and supporting overall fitness. These low-intensity sessions promote blood flow, help muscles recover faster, and improve flexibility and joint mobility. They also reduce stress and help correct imbalances that can lead to injury. Whether you’re training regularly or simply feeling tight from daily life, adding recovery and stretching to your routine can improve how you move, feel, and perform — both in and out of the gym.
Full rest involves complete inactivity, giving the body time to heal without physical exertion. Active recovery, however, includes low-intensity movement like walking, stretching, or mobility work to support circulation and reduce muscle stiffness. It’s often more effective than full rest for easing soreness, as it increases blood flow, helps flush out waste products, and delivers nutrients to muscles. While both have their place, active recovery can speed up healing and keep you moving without overloading the body—making it a smart choice between intense workouts or during lower-energy days.
Taking a recovery class 1–3 times per week is ideal, depending on your training load, stress levels, and individual needs. If you’re training intensely or experiencing muscle soreness and tightness, more frequent recovery sessions can help you move better and prevent injury. Even on lighter training weeks, a dedicated recovery class supports mobility, flexibility, and overall wellbeing. It’s a valuable tool for anyone—from beginners to advanced athletes—looking to optimise performance and long-term results. For personalised guidance, book a consultation to set fitness goals and create the right balance for your routine.
While both promote mobility, relaxation, and improved movement, active recovery and stretch classes focus specifically on enhancing muscle recovery through targeted mobility drills, fascial release, and functional stretching based on training demands. Yoga, on the other hand, combines breathwork, mindfulness, and a variety of postures that may improve flexibility, balance, and mental focus. Active recovery is more performance-oriented, often tailored to reduce soreness and improve athletic movement, while yoga offers a holistic approach to physical and mental wellbeing. Both can complement your training but serve slightly different purposes depending on your goals.
