Based in Sydney’s beautiful Bondi, AGOGA has been the Eastern Suburbs’ health, fitness and energy hub since 2012.

I’ve been going to Agoga for 4 months now and I’ve been so impressed by the varied workouts, super knowledgeable trainers and community connections facilitated via the gyms owners . I started at AGOGA two months ago and the results speak for themselves (VO 2 max back to 35,5)!! My fitness, endurance and strength have significantly increased, but most importantly, my passion for sport is back. After two hard years of health struggles I am slowly returning to my old self. The team at AGOGA are loving and truly knowledgeable people. The atmosphere is welcoming, no showing-off whatsoever. I've been a part of the AGOGA gym community in Bondi for a month now, and it's genuinely transformed my fitness journey. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ If I could give AGOGA more stars, I would! 🌟 The energy here is next-level, and it all starts with the owners, John and Belinda—absolute legends who’ve built a gym that feels like a second home (even if you're not a local like me!). Five weeks in, and the ripple effect of training here has hit every part of my life. Each session throws something different at you—strength, endurance, cardio—so there’s no autopilot, just good old-fashioned sweat and progress. I used to swear by boxing and Muay Thai as my go-to, but AGOGA has completely flipped that belief on its head. Now, I’m timing my visits to Bondi around my training just so I don’t miss a session. If that’s not a testament to how good this place is, I don’t know what is. Best. Gym. Ever. 💥💪

If I lived in Sydney I’d be a full time member! Had an amazing time at AGOGA and would 100% recommend if you are in the area! I normally only workout by myself but purchased the 10 day intro pack, and was instantly welcomed and loved every session. There was a good mix of sessions to try. The AGOGA team are great and so friendly. Thanks for having me and I’ll be back!
John and Belinda have created an amazing community at Agoga. They are invested in your development and the coaches they bring on board are excellent. People/coaches are friendly and want to support your journey, vs just being a number at large franchise gyms. Sessions are a great mix of strength, endurance and agility with programs changing every fortnight to keep things fresh. If you want to train hard, hit your goals and AREN’T interested in taking selfies then this is the place for you. Was a member for 2 years and only left due to moving out of the area. Agoga FTW!

Agoga is the best gym and community I could have asked to find when moving to Australia. After trialing multiple gyms in Bondi through class pass, I arrived at Agoga where there mission was clear: to make you Leaner, Faster, Stronger. 6 months on it's safe to say I'm all of those things, but that's mainly down to the best-in-class coaching from John, Will and Emily who have helped instill confidence in me with gym techniques and push you to work harder all whilst keeping a smile on your face. If you're sick of sitting in a gym alone with headphones in, try an Agoga class. I highly doubt you'd be disappointed. P.s. they throw some good parties too.

I've been training at Agoga for over a year and can't recommend it enough! The training style is suited for virtually anyone - seasoned athletes looking for challenge and also to complete newbies to the gym. The trainers are super attentive and knowledgeable, and classes themselves challenging and also fun! I can honestly say my technique and endurance had improved significantly ever since joining. Do yourself a favor, and give it a go!
I’ve tried a lot of different exercise plans and gyms, and this has been my favourite experience out of all. It really feels like a community and the coaches are super friendly and welcoming! There’s a range of workouts and a flexible schedule to choose from. Highly recommend!
Feel very lucky to have this place so close. Mix of newbies and gym junkies here, everyone is welcomed and kept challenged. No “gym knowledge” needed, the instructors show you everything you need to know. They also spot if you are doing anything wrong and show you the right technique. The classes are regularly refreshed so it’s kept interesting and challenging. I always feel like I’ve squeezed the most out of my time here each session.

I'm two years into membership and the team’s passion has not once wavered. John, Belinda, Will, Nate, and Emily are invariably welcoming and inclusive. They take care to understand your goals and where you are at. I have smashed my goals, reset and smashed them again in my time at Agoga. There is a strong focus on injury prevention and performance, class content is refreshed every two weeks and fits into broader program with the opportunity to test and record your results. Agoga also partners with local businesses that are complimentary to your training with special offers for members. The community here is really sound, genuine and supportive, and the classes are always good craic - a reflection on the culture that John and the team have built.
Really amazing team who take the time to make sure you are training properly and also really listen to your goals. A very warm, inviting and supportive gym to be part of. I tried lots gyms in Bondi before choosing AGOGA which was my favourite by far!
AGOGA feels like it has become my Australian family! John, Belinda, Nate, Emily and Will create such a warm and friendly atmosphere where anyone of any level of fitness is welcome. John in particular puts so much effort into getting to know all the members to makes sure everyone feels included. My favourite class is ‘Signature’ as it has a little bit of everything but all the classes are varied and fun. ‘Faster’ and ‘Leaner’ are quite challenging (in a good way!) and you feel great afterwards. I have been to several gyms in Sydney but AGOGA seems to be the only one that puts a real emphasis on the warm ups and cool downs. They even hold ‘Recover’ sessions twice a week which are solely based on stretching and mobility - incredibly important! This gym is not so much focussed on physical appearance but more on getting stronger, fitter and feeling awesome. Thank you AGOGA, I have learnt so much! 😊
Génial , vraiment une bonne salle de sport . Les cours sont très bien et les coach sont très impliqué. Il y a un nombre maximum de personne par sessions et c’est très bien il y a vraiment une bonne ambiance il y’a de tous : des gens qui débutés dans le sport et des gens plus expérimentés. C’est vraiment adapter à tout le monde . Je regrette pas de mettre inscrit je recommande vraiment 😁😁😁

I did the 10-day trial and absolutely loved it. The sessions format will definitely challenge your fitness, but the trainers and atmosphere help you push harder. John and Nate are super friendly and have a great eye for details (corrected my form a few times). Highly recommended.

Agoga has been my go-to gym since 2019, and it truly stands out as the best. The workouts consistently maintain a high standard, with each coach providing insightful education. Every class offers a diverse challenge, focussing on functional fitness, mobility & strength, leaving you feeling strong and accomplished after each workout. The inclusion of testing weeks is something I particularly appreciate, allowing me to track my progress & stay accountable throughout the year. The trainers' passion is unmistakable, extending genuine care to every individual entering through the distinctive yellow and black entrance. What truly sets Agoga apart is the incredible community built by John and Belinda. Participating in various activities outside the gym, such as kayaking, city2surf & my first ever half marathon (which has now turned into 4), has introduced me to incredible individuals who make every workout an absolute delight. AGOGA is amazing! Love that they regularly update their trainings, take inspiration from ongoing sporting events, give explanations of what muscles group were working out or stretching, and the STAFF! SO welcoming and they genuinely try to foster a community. Maybe more importantly, the workouts are very effective and quickly noticed improvements in my fitness with only a few courses taken so far. Would go regularly if I lived in Bondi 🙂

My last class is this week- as I'm going travelling, but I just wanted to say the Agoga gym is excellent: hard but rewarding classes, everyone who goes is lovely, kind and knowledgeable trainers. It is really pretty perfect. If I was living in Bondi I'd be there every week!
After more than a year, I’m loving my time at Agoga. Prior to joining I’d spent many years at gyms in the area, and this has been a standout experience. The sessions are constantly refreshed and are as challenging as you want them to be. John and the trainers are high-energy, they know when to push and when to motivate which make the sessions super effective and enjoyable. The team do a great job catering for the level you’re at, which for me can vary from session to session or week to week. A great, inclusive community too. Not so common in other gyms, every Agoga session has the appropriate warm-ups and cool downs built-in (a must!), the technique is explained and, importantly, closely monitored so I know I’m being looked after. After doing the trial it was an easy decision for me, high-recommend if you’re thinking of giving it a go.
I’ve tried a lot of gyms across Sydney, and Agoga is by far my favourite! It’s super friendly and welcoming! My old injuries have never flared up whilst at Agoga I believe due to their emphasis on stretching and recovery! I find it really motivating having blocks of classes and testing so you can see your personal improvement! The mix of classes is perfect so you can choice how much cardio vs weights you want! Couldn’t recommend enough!

I have recently joined Agoga gym. I find the trainers are full of knowledge. They have a variety of classes strength leaner faster and circuit and stretching classes to give back to your body which is a great addition.
I love AGOGA! I’ve joined only 2 months ago but already can see the results. John and the whole team are friendly and a look always want to make sure you are doing the exercises correctly.
Really great experience, classes are great and every coach is amazing. They take the time to explain you everything. I love the format of each class focusing on different aspects. I am so sad to leave. Great ambiance, I do highly recommend!!

John and the team are fantastic. I wanted a gym that focused on mobility as well as health and fitness and can confirm they cover all bases. Any session you do you leave feeling like you’re taller and your joints are healthy. Couldn’t recommend Agoga more whether you are a beginner or advanced athlete.

Owner and Head Coach
JOHN FIELD
AGOGA’s owner and Head Coach John. A former professional beach volleyballer, junior tennis coach, and aerobics competitor (back in the ‘90s), he has also run his own martial arts dojo on the Gold Coast’s Main Beach.
Nowadays, John’s passion is for functional fitness and long-distance running. Competitions, fun-runs, half and full marathons – he loves it all, and is dedicated to helping others achieve their fitness and running goals. From assisting everyday athletes to move better, to developing sporting movement patterns and improving client mindset, John is a powerhouse of group and personal coaching having helped 1000’s of clients achieve their goals over the past 20 years.
John’s qualifications include Certificates III and IV in Fitness; Certified TRX and Strongfirst Kettlebell Instructor; Level 2 FMT Trainer; Level 2 Punchfit Boxing instructor; ASCA Strength and Conditioning Coach Level 1; and Senior First Aid.

EMILY ROGERS
Emily is known as AGOGA’s Hybrid Trainer because she’s got it all! Her early career as a professional dancer evolved when she moved to Australia and immersed herself in the study of fitness and yoga.
From her graceful movement and dynamic speed to her incredible strength and mobility, Emily is a veteran Bondi trainer who’s constantly exploring how to train the body to move more efficiently and enhance overall wellbeing.
She has a wealth of knowledge in many disciplines and more recently has furthered her knowledge in pre and postnatal strength training, pilates and yoga. Since birthing her own baby girl in May 2023, her passion for women’s health and the changes that occur in a pregnant and postpartum woman’s body has grown making this a focus of her work and continued studies.

Coach
WILL BORDILL
An ex-pro Rugby player who joins us from the UK, Will has a passion for strength training and functional fitness. Will’s Rugby career included two Junior World Cups with his native Scotland at U-20 level, a Pro12 Winners medal with Glasgow Warriors, and a wealth of knowledge about how elite athletes prepare and compete. Aside from a love of strength training, Will also competes in Hyrox, winning the 2023 Sydney event in the Men’s Doubles U-30 category, and qualifying for the World Championships in 2024! Yes! 👏🏼
Our newest Bondi local, Will is learning to surf (slowly) and has developed an unfortunate soft spot for almond croissants 🙂
Will’s qualifications include Cert III and IV in Fitness and First Aid.

Coach
ALEX RAWLIN
Alex hails from the UK and comes from a professional sporting family, where hard work has always been a way of life. She is passionate about the transformative power of exercise, not just for physical health but also for building mental resilience.
Her clients often describe a love-hate relationship with her sessions—she ensures they are both enjoyable and challenging, always pushing them to their limits. With a background in full-time performance training, Alex has a deep understanding of body mechanics and values the uniqueness of every individual she works with.
Alex’s ultimate goal is to help her clients and members master the art of balance in health and fitness.
Her qualifications include a Level 3 Diploma in Fitness Instructing and Personal Training.

Eating before a morning run (under 40 minutes) isn’t essential, however it will largely depend on how you feel. Everyone is different. You will have enough energy to run under 40 minutes. Anything over this and you will start to go into energy depletion. To ensure you’ve got enough energy to go the distance, follow this simple rule. 30 minutes pre exercise - half a banana or a piece of toast w/jam or honey. And a pint of water If time permits, 2 hours pre exercise - load up. Either pasta, eggs / bacon / avocado on toast, yogurt… whatever...
