Posted by Agoga on Wednesday, June 6, 2018
Keen on running City2Surf this year? We have two shiny new (and very fast!) coaches on the team, so this year we’re committed to helping you enjoy (yes we said enjoy) your best run yet…
Nic and John are with you for this week’s live video chat, and the boys are talking all things City2Surf and why you need to get your training program sorted NOW! Y’know, rather than kicking off two weeks before the event and ending up with injuries that hang around and niggle at your training efforts for the next six months 😉
In this chat, Nic and John cover:
- Optimising nutrition in the lead up to the run
- Different types of shoes and figuring out what fit is right for you
- Training periodisation charts – what they are and why you need one
- How to get the best two run coaches this side of the harbour bridge on your side this year!
Keen to get your run on? To get involved in Agoga’s hot-to-trot City2Surf 2018 training program with master coaches John and Kalle simply email [email protected] It all kicks off in a few weeks time, so don’t miss the start gun!
Don’t forget to warm up and cool down – check out our blog on the topic here!
The topic for this week’s live video Q&A series is all about that age-old debate of strength VS cardio and what a good, balanced week of training looks like if your goals are increased health, strength and fitness.
In this chat, Libby and Nic cover:
- What is strength?
- What is cardio conditioning?
- Do you have a specific strength or cardio goal?
- How to structure your week if your goal is general physical preparedness
- Programming for 1-2 times per week
- Programming for a more extensive training week of 3, 4, or more sessions
- Where does general movement like walking fit in?
Click PLAY and find out more!
Our live video Q&A series is based on the questions our community are presenting to us each week and today’s topic is a goodie: Supplements 101, where we cover general health supplements that can be really helpful in making you feel a million dollars on a daily basis.
Press play to check it out!
In this chat, Libby and Nic cover:
- When you need to think about supplementation
- Who can benefit from protein powder
- Food-based supps that help you stay on top of your nutrition
- Sleep better, think sharper and feel more energised with these basics
- Chasing clear skin? This might help…
Welcome to your quick-fire, end of week update, with a few bite-sized bullet points covering interesting things we’ve learnt, books we’re reading, podcasts we’re listening to, new techniques and moves we’re loving, nutrition strategies, etc. One bullet from each trainer, a little nugget of health and fitness gold.
Ever fallen into the trap of counting the days, rather than making the days count? Yep, me too. If you’re already feeling like 2015 is heading down the, “too much time at my desk and not enough time spent doing cool new stuff” path, here’s your chance to experience what I do to shake up the routine!
I don’t know whether you’ve noticed, but there is a new phenomenon taking place right under our noses. No, it’s not another social media app (I’m still getting my head around Instagram). It’s not another form of new-age yoga designed to contort your body like a pretzel either, or a green juice revolution… it’s a vacation phenomenon! Or should I say… a staycation phenomenon
If you’re about to head on holidays, make sure you pack these three awesome sand workouts in your luggage and come home more ripped than you left! Training on sand is a great way to speed up your results – it gets your heart rate up more quickly than solid surface training, makes your muscles work harder, torches more calories and switches on all your stabilisers, meaning your balance improves too.
Going away over Christmas? Here’s a session for when you don’t feel like scientifically planning your workout… you just want to get going, move FAST and feel like you’ve worked super hard afterwards. Welcome to… our AGOGA Mashup Workout!
I don’t know about you guys, but in my experience (back in my corporate days at least) Christmas parties usually fall into one of two categories. Either they’re a massive BOOZE fest where everyone gets wasted, waking up the next day with more than a few regrets! Or they’re a massive SNOOZE fest where everyone’s talking about work… at a party… awesome.
